A sort of companion to the previous. I find that I like myself much better in hard light than soft.

You can see a bit of hard glare from my glasses on the side which is in shadow. I had trouble making up my mind about whether to leave that in or edit it out, but ultimately decided to leave it.

I also played with a heavily modified version of this image, but ultimately didn't like it.

I quite like this picture, which captures both the Boston skyline and the Longfellow Bridge in silhouette in front of it. It was taken handheld at night with very high speed film; in this instance, I consider the high contrast a very desirable effect.

During the same trip, this picture was taken with the 4x5 monorail. Since the camera has to be put on a tripod to be used at all, why not take a longer exposure?

Taken while walking around a lake in Minnesota, this picture has both colors in it - blue and yellow!

Sunrise over the beach! Taken on Velvia (E6), with high contrast and nice colors. I don't have a record of the details, but it was almost certainly taken with my Series E 50mm lens, which has almost no flare.

This picture was taken in 2006, and I'm writing the entry for it in 2009, so sadly I no longer remember anything whatsoever about how or where it was taken.

Originally taken as an exercise in studio lighting, I thought this picture turned out well enough to include.
